Day 3 @ ICDM2006
(December 17, 2006)

The third day of the conference began at 0915 Hours (IST) with Professor Carsten Thomassen (Denmark) chairing the Session 7. The first invited talk of the day was delivered by Professor Pavol Hell on "Generalized Colouring and Matrix Partitions". This was followed by the Plenary Talk by Professor Gregory Gutin (UK) on "Introduction to the minimum cost Homomorphism Problem for Directed and Undirected graphs" from 10.00 Hours to 11.00 Hours (IST).

At 11.30 Hours (IST), Professor K. Gopalakrishnan (USA) delivered an invited talk on "Applications of Orthogonal Arrays to Computer Science" and this was followed by an invited talk by Professor Mike Fellows (Australia) on "Combinatorial Extremal Structure Theory and its Algorithmic Applications". Professor Gregory Gutin (UK) chaired the session.

The afternoon session commenced at 14.15 Hours (IST) under the charimanship of Professor Mike Fellows (Australia). Professor Venkatesh Raman (India) delivered an invited talk on "Recent structural graph theoretical results and their implications for Exact and Parameterized algorithms". The next invited talk was delivered by Professor G.O.H. Katona (Hungary) on "Forbidden inclusion pattern in the families of subsets". This talk was indeed quite impressive and pleasing. The next invited talk was by Professor G. Pati (India) on "Generalization of Fiedler's monotonicity theorem". The last invited talk of the day was delivered by Professor P. Paulraja (India) on "Directed odd cycle decompositions of some regular digraphs".

There was an impressive Grand Instrumental Music Programme at 18.30 Hours (IST) by Mr. Bangalore Praveen & Party which went on until 07.45 PM. The delegates enjoyed the programme and thanked the party for this excellent presentation. Professor M.D. Plummer (USA) spoke in the end expressing his deep pleasure and thanked the artists for their impressive performance.

At the end of the day, a grand Banquet Dinner was hosted in the Main Guest House Lawns; at the end of the dinner, all the Invited Resource Persons and all the persons who were directly involved in the successful organization of the conference were honoured and presented with mementos. Professor Rangarajan, Prof. Veni Madhavan, Prof. Balakrishnan spoke on the occasion and expressed gratitude to all the delegates and the organizing committee members for making the conference a grand success.
